EXCURSION DETAILS:

We’re so excited to bring our Homeschool Adventurers a hands-on learning excursion of Australian Maritime History!

The bus will pick us up at the designated points starting from the Hunter Valley/Newcastle to Central Coast (with toilet stops along the way!) and before we know it we will be dropped off close to the museum.

On arrival we will meet our guides and to have a safety induction, bags away and have a snack/morning tea. Then in small groups we will rotate through these 4 amazing experiences!

  1. We will venture into the secret world of submarine warfare on HMAS Onslow where we explore the danger and drama of life on board
  2. We will hop onboard Australia's last of the country's big gun ships, the HMAS Vampire.
  3. Enjoy a self-guided tour of the SEA Museum checking out the many permanent galleries and special temporary exhibitions.

But we think the highlight will be the special guided tour of the world's most accurate maritime replica vessels that was also made in Australia- James Cook's HMB Endeavour.

We will be introduced to the 18th century world of exploration through a guided tour of the vessel, exploring both above and below decks, from bow to stern. We'll learn about life on board for the crew, marines, officers and gentlemen by viewing different parts of the ship including Cook's cabin.

During our day we will have time for toilet breaks and lunch. Our day at the SEA Museum finishes at around 3pm when our bus will pick us up for our journey home- kids can kick back and enjoy a movie!
